Collection (1989.035)2 boxes The Salisbury
Marine Construction Company acquired the Salisbury Marine Railway
Company making it the largest shipbuilding plant in the United States
south of New York. The facility was state of the art, employing 100
skilled tradesmen and working with the leading Naval architects and
noted yachtsmen along the East Coast. Together they specialized in
repair work, customization and building high end yachts and commercial
vessels taking orders from as far as Europe. Many of the vessels created
by the company would go on to be commissioned by the Navy in World War
I. This unique collection of over 100 photos, newspaper clippings and
objects portrays the day to day to life at this company on the water
including working conditions and technology, examples of fine
craftsmanship and the beautiful finished products and the progressive
managerial stance toward its employees and the growth of the company. |

Leonard

Arthur Leonard Collection takes a look at mid to late 19th century
Salisbury through photographs and print material. Series one centers on
the economic life of Salisbury. It includes advertising, printed
material and photographs of many of the leading and lesser known
companies including oil drilling. Series two covers the Great Fire of
1886 extensively through historical essays and article, many of which
were written at or around the time of the fire. Original photographs
document the devastation. Civic life is the subject of series three. The
bulk of which is photographic material capturing subjects such as
parades, homes and cultural venues. |

Les Callette Postcard
Collection (1994.018)7 boxes The postcards
were exchanged between Miss Beulah and Miss Clara LesCallette and
seemingly other family members from varying parts of the country during
the early 1900's. Many of the postcards are either postmarked from or
sent to Pocomoke City and Crisfield, Maryland. This collection contains
a series of 757 postcards spanning the years of 1905 through 1921, the
bulk of them being written and sent between 1907 and 1912. The
illustrations on the postcards represent holidays, places, people,
religious iconology and humorous situations. The majority have been
written on, stamped, sent and postmarked, while few are in their
original blank state. The collection also includes a postcard
collector's scrapbook, a Christmas Card and a handwritten poem. |

Michael's and customs. It contains booklets, articles, scrapbooks,

addition, it contains newspapers, magazines and material covering
historic homes and places such as Fairmount Academy. Maryland Hall of
Records Bicentennial Bulletin April-July 1776 were donated by William
Kline to complete the set. |
