5 folders This notable collection of research papers
were originally presented at one of two 1984 conferences held in
celebration of Maryland's 350th anniversary. The conferences were
sponsored by Institute of Early American History and Culture. The first
was also co-sponsored by John Hopkins University. The second was
co-sponsored by the Maryland State Archives, St. Mary's City Commission,
St. Mary's College of Maryland, and the Maryland Humanities Council. The
papers focus on a variety of subjects all relevant to early colonial
life in Maryland and Virginia including Native Americans, migration,
diet, free blacks, craftsmen, communities and religion. Theses papers
along with the papers presented at the other conference were later
published in 1988 by the University of North Carolina Press and edited
by Lois Green Carr, Philip D. Morgan and Jean Burrell Russo. |

social interactions in St. Mary's City, Maryland in the colonial period.
Featured prominently in the collection is the Chipman Foundation as well
as a yearbook commemorating the Shorebirds, the baseball team of
Salisbury, Maryland. Also of interest are the statistical profiles of
the counties of the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland and a portfolio of
prints featuring images unique to Delmarva. |
