| Abstract |
This collection contains various photocopies of
scrapbooks using Eastern Shore slang or as the compiler
Hazel A. Garland refers to them, "Eastern Shore-isms."
Examples include: "I just thought I'd double ask you,"
"Don't worry about them plants: after they're in the
ground, they'll soon health up", and "Well, I hope to my
die!" All of these colloquial uses are within these
photocopied scraps of material. Garland claims that many
of these are malapropisms and mistranslation of Old
English phrases. |
