Nabb Research Center Sponsorship Opportunities

Sponsor A Book   |   Sponsor a Settler   |   Whitehaven Ledger Fund

* Sponsor A Book

The Sponsor-A-Book Program is an ongoing project to raise needed funds for book rebinding. Many of the books in the Nabb Center's collections are in need of repair, and a substantial portion of these volumes are out of print. In an effort to keep these books accessible to the public, the books must be rebound. Patrons can support the rebinding initiative by donating $10 per book. Sponsors will have their names inserted in the rebound volume with a special nameplate.

Anyone interested in contributing to this fund may mail a check to the Center (information below) or contact the Nabb Center for more information.

* Sponsor A Settler

Are you interested in obtaining copies of wills and inventories on colonial ancestors from Maryland? For a sponsorship fee of $50.00 per ancestor, you can be part of the great awakening of Delmarva history!

We will provide the sponsor a paper or digital copy of the will and inventory, PLUS a transcribed copy! Additionally, your name will be listed in Shoreline and on our website as a sponsor of the project.

The second area of focus will be the neck of land in Somerset County between the Wicomico and Manokin Rivers; however, sponsorship is available for any first settler (or descendant) of Old Somerset County up to 1750.

Proceeds from Sponsor-A-Setter are used to help fund our on-going digital project American Origins. This pilot project and a work in progress, is a digital archive, utilizing GIS technology, focusing on the settlement period of 1663 through 1759. The current database consists of records pertaining to the inhabitants of the neck of land just south of the Wicomico River in Somerset County, Maryland currently referred to as Mt. Vernon. This area, formerly known as the Hungary Neck district, contained portions of the Monie and Wicomico Hundreds during the colonial period.

To sponsor an individual, mail a check to the Center (information below) or contact the Nabb Center for more information.

* Preserving the Whitehaven Ledger

The following is a transcription of one of the papers from the Whitehaven store ledger of Marcellus Jones. The Nabb Research Center is actively seeking funds to use toward the conservation and preservation of this book which is in dangerously poor condition. The conservation work is estimated to cost $2,000. Although we have received several donations, we still have a long way to go. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution for this worthy cause.
