Using the Nabb Research Center

Who can use the Center?

• Use of the Nabb Center is free to all Salisbury University faculty, students and staff.
• Daily use of the Center is available to all researchers for a $5-per-day research fee.
• Yearly membership is available and the varying types of membership offer unlimited research at the Center for the membership duration.

Requesting materials that are not part of the basic collection:

Be aware that you will be required to sign a statement of fair use and intention. This form states that:

• If research is performed for any corporate entity that the Center be credited in the final product (a newspaper article, documentary, etc.).
• The patron acknowledges that there are fees for the photocopying and photographing of material housed at the Center.
• The patron acknowledges copyright rules and regulations.
• The patron agrees to adhere to Center rules.

Genealogical & Research Inquiries:

• The Nabb Research Center offers research services for a $15 per hour fee to accommodate requests for information. The services are provided by competent volunteers for the benefit of the Nabb Research Center. The acceptable rate for professional researchers is $30.
• The research services offered are document oriented, ranging from obtaining microfilm copies of wills, deeds and other public documents such as tax lists, to pages from the Leslie Dryden Collection. We do not interpret the documents.
• The Nabb Research Center does not compile lineage applications for societies such as DAR, DAC, Colonial Dames and the like. We will provide you with copies of documents for your application, but it is not the NRC's responsibility to ascertain the lineage nor to suggest pertinent proof documents. The registrar of the chapter of the society to which you are applying will be able to answer questions concerning the exact documentation accepted by the society. The NRC can help you by providing copies.
• No telephone requests are taken; all inquiries must be written and specific.
• Prepayment in U. S. dollars is required before staff members research a request.
• To submit a research query by mail, please specify the amount of time you will authorize the Nabb Research Center to spend searching for documents and enclose a check or money order in U. S. dollars for the number of hours desired, multiplied by $15.00. Please factor in time to ascertain existence of the requested document, loading of microfilm and handling of document from volunteer to staff member processing your request.

• With each request, please include your name, telephone number, postal address, and e-mail. While it may not take two weeks, please allow us that time to respond to your inquiry.
